Ode To A Bad Trip

Ode To A Bad Trip
by Robert Paul Gass (aka Imagines Vinco aka Ultionem Vinco)
I took a trip across a bridge between
Sensation and illusion river wide
Near mnemon black Lethe forgetful queen
Lysergic acid diethyl amide.
By mirrors circumposed I unveiled fates
Transfixed as one Narcissus held by pond
Beheld unfathomable duplicates
Conscious of ego alien beyond.
Our predecessors Adam Lilith Eve
No more to God than gnats of same earth formed
Deceived by dreams that Eden did conceive
Them lords to give translucent names that swarmed
And changed with origins unknown by all
Since language unity omniscent split
Transmogrifying conduits names fall
Before creation's influx infinite.
Souls evanescent sparks assuming shape
Liquescent fed by lucent astral rays.
Ascending nascent forms split shells escape
From womb descending obsolescent ways.
Myself illusion born reflections' sum
Forgotten underneath skies nebulous
Ecstatic freed from mortal coil grew numb
Above life's labyrinth as Icarus
I soared but I dwelt in physical shell.
Still bound by matter flight's swift fleeting flame
Extinguished caught within blind storm I fell
Downward in maelstrom hence to nadir came.
Refulgence mere refraction soulless seat
Of mirrored self's sojourn reflecting nil
Attempting freedom from morass effete
By empty shells contained I sank more still.
Miasmic images replenished space
Of Psyche vacated by visions doom
Whence demon lost psychosis showed his face.
Errabam et nunc ego nihil sum.
