The Slave Who Slew The Slayer

The Slave Who Slew The Slayer
by Robert Paul Gass (aka Imagines Vinco aka Ultionem Vinco)
To goad the ox to labors thirty score
And seven growing great then weak with age
As huntress' king a slave to cycle's core
And dropping base a slave to goddess' cage.
The theory Thomas Hobbes to lay in book
Of scaly beast and prophesy the right
Of people over kings to reign as hook
And drag Bastille to earth divine as might.
The day the slave proclaimed the huntress God
The goddess sank to take a man to bear
Her boughs a twig always as base as sod
And brought to Vestal Temple pain to share.
The scaly Beast to swallow pain of slave
As whim of masses golden twig he gave.
