Lazarus' Life In Athena's Arms

Lazarus' Life In Athena's Arms
by Robert Paul Gass (aka Imagines Vinco aka Ultionem Vinco)
The tangled web Athena wove from great
As pumpkin lies to sever spider's claim
As seamstress' rival gods to tempt that fate
She gave Arachne stealing beauty's name.
The wife was chaste as father fought in east
And spun her cloth the gods of hearth appeased
With show of loyal heart her work now fleeced
Abyssal levy bitter men diseased.
For Martha Jesus' love awakened death
And gave the resurrection brother's gloom
On slab to rot as shroud in gates of Beth
To feel with Jesus bitter Roman doom.
The work to weave is lost in twist of times
A shroud to laud forgotten stake of rhymes.
